Anakin and Padme are so mind-bogglingly in love... In my opinion it's really touching that they were willing to keep their relationship a secret in order to protect it. anything for that, and all the eventual power-hungry business blinded him to her real needs.

Well in all fairness he never killed her. Their love was pure and perfect, it's such a shame she died and he did what he did. Still we can all dream of how it should have been.
