Pirates of the Caribbean At World'd End

I saw the movie and loved it with all my heart! I must see it again!

But don't let the ending make you feel sad! But it was sad, but a happy ending..

I enjoyed the movie until the end. The ending ruined it for me.

Yes the ending is horribly sad, however, did you stay until the end of the credits? I didn't, but luckily found it on youtube, but it was taken off. Gotta stay till the end if I see it again! It made me so much happier, because I was close to tears before I saw it.



At the end of the credits there's a beautiful scene.
Ten Years Later
We see Elizabeth on the very same island she was when Will left her, however someone else is with her.
Her son.
He's singing a Pirate song, the same song young Elizabeth is singing when we first meet her in CoTBP. Elizabeth comes up beside him, and he's such an adorable little boy (nine-years old) and he looks so much like Will, and he's wearing a hat to. There looking out to the sea, were it is a sunset.
And then we see ship and Will is on it, and he see's them waiting for him, and smiles. And then it ends and we see no more. (It's about less then 50 seconds this part at the end of the credits)
He's about to see Elizabeth for the first time in ten years, and his son. (We can assume he and Elizabeth had quite a honeymoon on that beach before he left! LOL!)


And the curse on Will is broken. How? It's been a big discussion by many people who saw the movie, however many agree the curse on Will is broken.

Elizabeth remained faithful to Will, unlike Tia to Davvy. Davvy did the duty of Captain of the Dutchman for ten years, and when they finally could be together Tia was not there for him. If she had, he would have been freed from it. But Elizabeth remained faithful, in love with Will. Her love for Will will break the curse and Will can join her now forever. On the writer's of the movie's website, Ted and Terry, they have said that such love like Elizabeth would break the curse. Also the conversation between Davvey and Tia/Calypso explains it . I've been checking out PoTC sites, and there's been lots of discussion on it all, and many believe the curse on Will is broken. I believe it is. It's to sad for it not to be!


He no longer has to be the CoTFD. Someone else is free to take the place as captain.

Of course, it's terrible to think for ten years they couldn't see eachother. But it's beautiful knowing that they can be together forever now, and they have a little son to raise! Awww!
Still it's very sad. But I think it was a good ending.

So happy it was a WE ending. (WE-Will/Elizabeth)

It made me feel better to! I was so sad when I saw that part. The other ending made me feel better. But still, ten years..it's so sad..

I have heard some say that the movie made no sense, was a mixed up ball of confusion and you didn't really know who was good or bad at the end. Anyone else feel this way? Anyone care to explain the whole plot and storyline?

Have you seen it yet, Annie?

I didn't have any trouble at all following it - I suspect that those who did probably went to see it WITHOUT seeing the first two movies. I think if you try to do that, then yes, it WILL be a mixed up ball of confusion you can't figure out. But if you know what went on in them, it's not.

As to who was good or bad at the end, it just didn't have 2-dimensional characters, as much as some try to force it into that mold. Everyone has his or her own story, so no one is wholly evil. We see through the course of the movie how Davvy Jones got the way he is and why and sympathize with him. We see another character's secret agenda (and identity) revealed. Yet the only character who stays bad is the head of the East India Trading Company (and his henchmen), and at the end, you can even see that he's baffled by the way things turned out (as he's about to die).

A blow-by-blow description of the plot wouldn't do much except spoil it for those who haven't yet seen it, but even if not, I doubt I could come up with it without a script. Not because the plot was confusing, but because SO MUCH HAPPENED IN IT!

But I will go into what is being discussed above and a bit more (spoilers coming)

At least 2 1/2 main characters die in this movie, not including the "bad" guys, like Davvy Jones. The "1/2" is because one dies and becomes immortal. The crux is, whoever kills Davvy Jones is obliged to take his place. Jack wants to be immortal and has no problem being consigned to sail the seas on the Dutchman. But he doesn't get his wish (because selfish Jack turns out to be not that selfish). In the final battle, Will is mortally wounded (after he and Elizabeth are married). Jack helps him hold the weapon to stab Davvy Jones' heart. I suspect this is what Duffy doesn't like - that Will and Elizabeth do not get to live "happily ever after" - not under the standard terms, at least.

For me, I didn't mind this ending at all. It's much better than him dying, and actually works in their favor: I just couldn't see Elizabeth settling down and being little Miss Domestic. I don't think she would have been happy. Nor could pirates have effectively shared the command of a ship (one scene in this movie makes this very obvious, and the early interplay between Will and Elizabeth hints at it too). Even without the postscript scene (which I didn't see since my son had to hurry to work), the only negative part is that he is immortal (and unaging) and she is not.

If the final part truly meant that the curse was broken and he was freed by her love, then I REALLY have no problem with the movie at all. In the 10 years they've been apart, each would have learned to give a little more (him by being cursed and having to serve the dead, and her by becoming a mother), so they would be much more likely to be able to share, not even including knowing full well what it is like to be apart from each other.

Anyhow, from my point of view, the ending worked BETTER than a traditional ending.

Thanks, Saphira, for warning us about the ending, for most people into the the movie theatre I went left as soon as the credits unfolded, and didn't stay to wait the very end of them.

Thank you very much. I truly loved this ending. And from my point of view, it couldn't go otherwise for Will and Elizabeth...

And I really had a good time, I really did.
