I don't know what's going on, but on this site every capital letter or anything boardering an apostrope turns up as Chinese writing for me! I don't have this problem on other sites that I have seen at least so far. Is there anybody else experienceing this or is something really freaky going on with my computer?

I am still having this problem. It makes it hard to read some stories. I don't know what is going on but I guess I'm the only one and nothing can be done.
here is example of how it looks to me, this is from Memoires. Do the Chinese symbols show up for you here?
I shake my head doubtfully. “I don’t know about that,?I say. “I don’t think you are giving them enough credit. They may be clones, but they are still capable of intelligent thought.?br/> “But there is no other emperor, Anakin, no other but you, whether you are calling yourself Vader or Skywalker,?he returns. “This is a philosophical nuance that the clones will not even consider. You are the emperor; therefore, you have their allegiance. Mask or no mask.?br/> I sigh, my head spinning with the line of reasoning that Piett is taking. Is he right? I don’t know what is right anymore, what makes sense any more; all I know is that I am tired, I am sore, and I miss my family.
“You get some rest,?he says, seeing the look of fatigue wash over me. “I will talk to the admirals some more, see what they are thinking.?br/> “Okay,?I reply, lying back down. “Any chance I can see my family??br/> “I will see what I can do,?he replies. “Get some rest. You look terrible.?br/> “Thanks,?I mutter as I close my eyes. Soon enough, I drift off into a restless, troubled sleep.

I'm not seeing Chinese characters, but in your second sentence, the quoted piece, it says:
"I don't know about that
after the word 'that', I see a comma, followed by a question mark, followed by 'I say.'
Where you have
Mask or no mask
I see, following the second mask, a period, a question mark, a 'b', an 'r', a forward slash and a 'greater than' sign. That's the upper character on the period key.
The ?br/> string of characters appears in several places, I think at the end of every quoted sentence. It seems to be replacing the second double quote, which ends the quoted sentence.

Well, thank you for looking. I am still having the problem but it must be just my computer. I have had this problem on a few other message boards too but if nobody else can see it it must be my unique quirk. WTF?

Most of what you have typed shows up as almost being html code. The ?/BR> is a garbled command that creates a carriage return in html. I suspect that part of the coding of this board generates the html for display, but for you the commands are showing up, like they always do if they are written wrong (which in this case they are because there shouldn't be a question mark in them).
I've had this problem on software at work that we have to use to type in our resumes on the secure server. Any time someone cuts and pastes from MS Word, it ends up generating a question mark wherever they have quotation marks. We've been told it's because the system can't handle the wordprocessing commands Word uses for the quotation marks. The difference is that it happens uniformly for everyone. So I would say that something about your system can't handle the character set being generated by this board to display the messages.

Thank you, then it is only this system. I don't know what to do. Now I'm getting a bunch of squares and things that look like flyswatters. I will have to try to read the new chapter updates later because I can hardly make out some words. I'll be back.

I'm on a different computer now and I don't see the Chinese writing anymore but there's a new problem, disappearing post! I commented on the story "Star Kingdom" and I saw my post but when I refreshed the page it was gone! So I posted again and I could see the old one, but again both were gone when I refreshed. I opened a new browser window and I saw my post listed as last post made but when I opened the thread it wasn't there. What's going on? Will this post even show up?

Yikes my post here disappeared too! I was asking why my post in Star Kingdom disappeared and this one did too. Maybe this might not even show up. This is too weird.
