Black-italics are parts not in the movie Purple-song Summary
The Republic was on the verge of war again and the Jedi needed new recruits to lead their armies into battle and the call was made to all males to enlist and fight for their Republic. The leader of the Jedi and the Army needed someone strong to lead the new recruits and thought of no one better than his former pupil, Anakin Skywalker to build an army into strong troopers and Jedi.
In another part of the galaxy, there was a young 14 year old girl, who was adventurous and not ready to settle down which her parents wanted as they were preparing her to become a young bride to a strong trooper but Padme had other plans for her life but knew that to please her parents as their own child, she would have to become a young bride so her family can be proud and not scared of hiding away because of her.
Chapter 1
Padme was asleep in her bed, but not for long when her father yelled, “Padme! Your mother called and she is wondering where you are. You are suppose to meet her in town today” he yelled as she sprung out of bed, slipping into a causal pair of clothes and down the stairs where she grabbed something to eat, kissed her dad on the cheek, “Sorry about this, love you dad” she told him and ran out the door, onto her horse and riding as fast as she could into town.
Jobal was becoming worried, time was going by and she was going to not make it if she was any late, “Where is she?” she asked out loud, “I should have prayed to the ancestors for luck” she muttered as her mother replied, “How lucky can they be? They’re dead” as she made herself across the road where she picked up a small droid in the stand, yelling back to Jobal, who looked to see the old lady standing a nearby stand buying what only could be a small astromech droid as she yelled out, “This is suppose to be a lucky droid so let’s see!” as she moved to the road, “Mother no!” she yelled as she stepped out and the traffic went crazy and flying everyone as the old lady made her way across the busy street, then looked back, “Yes, this droid is a lucky one!” she exclaimed as the little R2 looked at the damage done and broke down. Jobal turned her worried back to Padme as she heard a horse running this way and there was Padme, jumping off, she said, “I’m here!” then saw her mother’s expression, “What?” she asked as her mother pushed her inside, “Late as usual, now let’s get you cleaned up” she told her as she led her inside.
Anakin was listening to his friend talk about the crisis they were facing and what they needed to do, Anakin was willing to do anything to help fight but not train a bunch of nobody’s when he could be out fighting along side his’s friend but he knew that his’s friend had good intention and knew that Anakin could do it. So he took the job with pride to show that he would not fail-it couldn’t be that hard-right now his friend’s assistant Sio Bibble was out in the galaxy and enlisting men to help fight for the Republic. His friend stepped away from the crowd and over to him where Anakin smiled, “You really know how to show them what to do” Anakin told him as he laughed, “Years of practice, Anakin and one day you’ll do it too” he replied as Anakin looked out of the city of Courscant and thought to himself, “That’s if the Army now saves the Republic from falling from their new enemy, Count Dooku as he was known. Anakin knew that he would not fail his task-he would train the army and fight back before it was too late as he was beginning to feel that it was nearly going to become a very dark place to live.
Chapter 2
Padme entered the small house with her mother to be greeted by Jobal’s friend Sola, “I don’t want to do this” Padme was protesting as Sola came over, “Of course you do, every girl wants to become a bride and bring honour to her family” she told her as she led her over to the fresher room, the water was freezing, “It’s freezing” she commented as her mother replied, “It would have been warm if you were here on time” as she was cleaned up and into the dress fittings, a beautiful purple and blue long dress with matching shoes as adjustments were made to dress and then it was taking over to be paint in beautiful make up then out to the head mistress in charge of making the girls into brides. There were five other beautiful girls all dressed up and Padme became very nervous as they lined up outside the building as she boomed out, “Naberrie, Padme” she called, “Present” she piped out, turning around, she noted, “Speaking without permission” as Padme muttered, “Oops” before following her inside, as her grandmother noted to Jobal, “Who spit in her Ruby Biel?’ as Jobal shook her head.
Padme entered the room, suddenly feeling very nervous like something could go wrong. The headmistress strolled in front of her, over to a small table. “Now we shall begin” announced the headmistress, as she waved her hand over cups and lovely decorated teapot, as Padme stared in horror, at the small little R2 droid on her shoulder, who had unfortunately squinted small amounts of oil over the table just as the headmistress had placed her hand, unknowingly in it, “Pour the tea” she barked, “To please your future in-laws” she went on, “You must demonstrate a sense of dignity” she continued, making a loud black mark across her face, as Padme continued to pour the tea into the cup, discovering the little R2 swirling around the edge as the headmistress reached to pick it up, “Um, pardon me” Padme whispered as she watched her raise it to her lips, “And silence” she barked, but Padme couldn’t stay still any longer, leaning across the table, “Could I just take that back?” she asked, trying to pull it off her, “For a moment” she added, although the commotion was too much and the tea went flying all over the headmistress, who screamed, bouncing up, her dress caught fire from the edge of the fireplace as Padme scrambled around, trying to help her.
Everyone outside, couldn’t stand to hear the loud commotion as Jobal knew that her daughter wasn’t doing well but Padme’s grandmother was thinking positive, leaning over, she whispered, “I think it’s going well don’t you?” she asked, right as the huge, wooden panel doors opened, with an angrier headmistress flying about, “Put it out! Put it out! Put it out!” she screamed, as Padme aimed the jug of cold, water right into her tempered face, her dripping fancy make up sliding down her face as Padme backed away towards her mother and grandmother right before the headmistress boomed straight over at her, “You are a disgrace!” she roared, “You may look like a bride, but you will never bring your family honour!” she declared as Padme felt hurt, her mother’s arms around her but Padme knew she had not made a perfect day for her parents.
Far across the galaxy, Anakin Skywalker sat alone, just outside the Jedi Temple, the fresh, brisk night air brushed into his face, he couldn’t believe that his best friend, who had being like a father to him was allowing him with some responsibilities, it was huge, he was going to try everything not to let him down. He was quietly thinking about his role when a voice entered his thoughts, “Need some company?” the voice asked as Anakin smiled, seeing the friendly face of his old friend, “of course” he replied as he sat right next to him, “Anakin, I want you to know that I gave you this role because I know you can do it and that if anybody can lead new recruits it’s you and you will see battle but for now, let’s start with this” he explained to him as Anakin smiled, “I know and I will not fail you, even if Sio Bibble thinks that I am not suited for this role” he smirked as his friend laughed, “Don’t worry about him, he’s always on everyone’s case” he joked as Anakin laughed and could help but thinking that the war would require all help so he would have to do a lot of work with these new recruits.
Chapter 3
The sky had turned over to an orange glow indicating the afternoon had fallen, as Padme arrived back to her small farm where her father was awaiting on the front steps, a huge smile across his face but upon seeing Padme’s face full of sadness, his’s turned to sorrow as his wife moved over to inform him of what had happened with the headmistress and her concerns for Padme.
Padme stood nearby, watching the small conversation with her parents as she returned her loving, black horse to the stables, looking down at the gentle breeze of the flowers, she was so upset and she starts to feel that something is wrong with her, she softly began to sing to herself, “Look at me” “I will never past for a perfect bride Or a perfect daughter. Can it be…I’m not meant to play this part” she softly moved the pebbled stone path past the family’s temple and their small creek, “Now I see that if I were to truly be myself. I would break my family’s heart” she knelt before the water’s edge, “Who is that girl I see? Staring straight back at me, Why is my reflection of someone I don’t know” “Somehow I cannot hide, Who I am, though I’ve tried. When will my reflection show who I am Inside?” splashing the water across her face, wiping the thick, glossy make up off her face, seeing her face so innocent in the water, “When will my reflection show who I am…inside?”
Padme could feel the soft, clear tears run down her cheeks when she was snapped back into reality with the sound of loud drums-the indication of Republic official approaching. Racing to the entrance to her home where her mother and father stood, heading out, her mother stopped her, “Padme, stay inside” she instructed, as she followed her husband out as Padme’s grandmother nudged her, to have an overview over the fence. Padme took this as an idea and started to climb the fence until she could see.
Three Republic officials on stern light brown horses lined up in a row as one, who Padme recognised as Sio Bibble, was talking about hard times and recruitment for the Republic’s arms. One by one, the men were called, when she heard, “Naberrie, Ruwee” Padme gasped but her father remained strong and bravely moved forward, replying to Sio Bibble, “I am ready to serve the emperor” unfortunately wasn’t expecting his daughter to run out, “No, father! You can’t go!” she cried, “Padme!” Ruwee exclaimed, but Padme ignored him, “Please, sir. My father has already served for his…” as Sio Bibble rode in front of her, “Silence, I would advise your daughter to hold her tongue in a man’s presence” he snapped as Ruwee held his strong head high, avoiding contact with her, “Padme, you dishonour me” he informed her, as she lowered her head while her father was handed his enlisting order before the officials rode off down the dirt stricken path.
Padme turned in shock to her father, who was starting to return to the compound, “You shouldn’t have to go!” she shouted as her mother exclaimed, “Padme!” but Padme continued, “There are plenty of young men to fight for the Republic!” she announced, but her father held his strong gaze, “It is an honour to protect my family and the Republic” he told her as Padme argued, “So you’ll die for honour” as he snapped, “I will die doing what’s right!”, as Padme continued, “but you…” until he cut her off, “I know my place. It is time you learn yours” he abruptly told her, as Padme looked into her father’s eyes before running straight past him into the house.
As the white stars twinkled in the clear blue night sky, Padme decided what was best for her father that she was take his place under a false identity. Taking her father’s long silvery sword, she cut her beautiful, long hair to a shoulder length style before being tied back, as she donned her father’s armour and rode off into the night. Leaving behind a loving note, explaining what she had done, which shocked her parents, Jobal held onto Ruwee, “You must go after her. She could be killed” she pleaded with him, but he still remained firm, “If I reveal her, she will be” he pointed out while Padme’s grandmother observed their sorrow over Padme’s sudden decision, she whispered “Ancestors, hear our prayer. Watch over Padme”
A great puff of grey smoke swarmed the Temple as the head ancestor took his place, summoning his assistant, C-3PO, “3PO, awaken” he bellowed as the golden, frozen statue of the droid came to life, “I live! So tell me what mortal needs my protection, Great Ancestor. You just say the word and I’m there” he announced, “3PO...” the ancestor started, “And let me say something’. Anybody who’s foolish enough to threaten our family, vengeance will be mine! And…” he started, before the ancestor became angrier, “3PO! *These* are the family guardians. They..” he started, “Protect the family” 3PO finished, “And you, O Demoted One?” he asked, “I ring the gong” he went on as he swooped down on him, “That’s right, now wake up the ancestors” he instructed as 3PO picked up his gone, “One family reunion coming right up” he muttered before starting to bang on his small, round gong as swarms of ancestors flew down upon the room, before they starting beckoning about the crisis that has happened and who would go to bring Padme back, of course, determined to prove himself, announced he would go, until everyone burst into laughter, deciding the Greatest Spirit would bring her back and 3PO would go and awaken up.
Unfortunately for poor 3PO, it all goes wrong, when the great spirit is made of hard stone and a little commotion causes it to crack and fall into one huge mess, however he stills acts like everything is alright and the ancestors are unaware at what has happened, leaving 3PO to crumble, until the little R2 droid wheels along with his own suggestion, that 3PO translates, “Go get her? What’s the matter with you…After this Great Stone Humpty-Dumpty mess, I’d have to bring her home with a medal to be let back in the Temple” he sighed, then it hit him, like lighting, “Wait a minute! That’s it! I’ll make Padme a war hero, and the ancestors will be begging me to come back. That’s the master plan!” he cheered, rubbing his hands together, “oh, you’ve done it now, man” he snicked, taking off, as R2 wheeled along side him, Where’s do you think you’re going?” he asked, darting around the corner, as R2 beeped back, causing 3Po to pop back, “You’re lucky? Do I look like a sucker to you?” he laughed as R2 beeped another remark, “What do you mean a loser. I will have you switched off and destroyed, then who’s a loser, me or you?” he asked before hurrying to catch up to the small droid.
Chapter 4
Sio Bibble returns to the main capital planet of Courscant where General Obi Wan Kenobi awaits with his friend and now Commander Anakin Skywalker, “Sio Bibble, how was the recruitment?” Obi Wan asked as he descended the landing ramp, “So far, there is a great number of men meeting us on Endor for training and are looking forward to a great General teaching them” he smirked “Or someone of importance” he hinted as Obi Wan only laughed, “Sio, you give me too little credit. I have already chosen Anakin to train the new recruits” he informed him as Sio nearly over balanced, “Anakin?!? But he only starting out and doesn’t know a lot or how to teach” he protested as Obi Wan shook his head, “I understand your anger but Anakin is ready and will not fail” he replied before moving off, leaving a glaring Sio Bibble at an uncomfortable Anakin, who was beginning to feel not ready for his task that lay in front of him.
Having almost nearly missing the scuttle for Endor, Padme stood over a high cliff, which gave her a clear view of the encampment beyond the trees. There were so many men and officials-she did not know how she could get in without being noticed, but how could she go back now. Sighing deeply, she moved back over to her gentle horse, “Who am I kidding. I’m going to need a miracle to get into the army” she wondered out loud, then as if someone was watching, a giant puff of grey, red smoke rosed up in front of her, followed by a loud voice, “Did I hear someone ask for a miracle? Let me hear you say aaah!” it screamed as Padme screamed back in front, “That’s close enough” it replied as Padme whispered under her breath, “A voice? As she watched the shadow continue, “Get ready, Padme, Your serpentine salvation is at hand, for I have been sent by your ancestors…” he kicked away the small R2, who was trying to ruin his introduction, “To guide you through your masquerade” he finished, before bending down, “Come on, you’re going to stay, you’re going to work” he told the small droid before raising back up, with more red smoke, “So heed my words, cause if the Jedi and the army find out you’re a girl, the penalty is death!” he announced as Padme’s voice quivered, “Who are you?” she asked as they went louder, “Who am I? Who am I? I am the guidance of lost souls. I am the powerful, the pleasable, the indestructible C-3PO!” he announced coming from behind the smoke, as Padme looked down in shock to see a small, average droid, “Oh, hey, pretty hot, huh?” he asked, before her horse got angry and tramped the droid with his giant hoofs while Padme had to pull him off, still looking down at this droid.
Padme slowly crouched down to pick up the golden, now brownish droid, “Um, my ancestors sent a droid to help me?” she asked him as 3PO took offence, “Hey, Protocol *Protocol*, not just droid. I don’t do that beeping thing” he pointed out, before whirling out a series of beeps, until he hit himself over the head, “You’re, uh” Padme started to say as he popped around her, “Intimidating? Awe-inspiring?” he asked, “Average” she confessed, “Of course, I’m travel size for your convenience. If I was my real size, your cow here would die of fright” he informed her as her horse snapped at 3PO, “Down, Betsy” he ordered before popping back to Padme.
“My powers are beyond your mortal imagination. For instance, my eyes can see straight through your armour” he told her, who gasped and slapped him, knocking him back onto the ground, “Oooh! All right, that’s it! Dishonour! Dishonour on your whole family!” he announced, noting to his small friend R2, “Make a note of this. Dishonour on you, dishonour on your cow, dis..” he was cut off as Padme covered his mouth, “Stop. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m just nervous. I’m nervous. I’ve never done this before” she confessed softly, as 3PO pointed out, “Then you’re gonna have to trust me. And don’t you slap me no more. We clear on that?” he asked, “All right, okey-dokey, let’s get this show on the road! R2, get the bags” he ordered, “let move it, heifer” he instructed the horse, who growled angrily as Padme only thought this would work.
Just outside the large army encampment, another republic scuttle descended the grounds and out stepped, General Obi Wan Kenobi, young Commander Anakin Skywalker and Sio Bibble, who was observing the scene, “Idiots the lot of them, you’ll never a lot of luck to get through to them” he snickered as Anakin only remained quiet as he entered the tent, before Obi Wan pulled Sio back, “I trust Anakin with this role, do not discourage him” he ordered as he ushered him into the tent, unaware of another recruiter who had just entered the encampment.
