Chapter 1
The 300th anniversary of the Naberrie’s rule of Theed, and Ruwee has decided to celebrate their rule at the palace with all their delegates, Jobal and he, looked elegant in their royal attire, while their five children looked elegant-Sabe, Rabe, Dorme and Amidala, all decked out in their beautiful dresses that their mother had picked out for them while Palo, looked handsome in his custom made suit. They engaged with all their friends and watched their children dancing together and having fun. Winama watched her youngest granddaughter smiling and dancing, she was her favourite granddaughter and loved her dearly. She had a surprise for her, moving towards her, “Amidala, dear, I have a present for you. Could I show you over near the table?” she asked as Padme smiled, “Of course, grandma” she replied, taking her hand, she walked with her back to the table, where her grandma sat down, taking from her purse a small wrapped present, “Something to remind you of me” Winama informed her, as Amidala started to unwrap the small present, her eyes lighting up upon seeing the gift, “A music box” she gushed before she excitedly adds, “It plays our lullaby!” as Winama smiled, “You can play it at night before you go to sleep and pretend its me singing” she told her before she lifted another item out of the box, “This is a very special necklace, something we’ll always have” she informed her, as Amidala’s eyes lit up once more, “Together in Courscant” she spoke, as Winama held her close, “Its somewhere we’ll be always” she informed her, helping her put the necklace on, “Oh grandma, it’s beautiful, thankyou” she gushed, when a cold gush swept through the room, startling the guest and an evil haunting laugh filled the room, and then he appeared, Palpatine, once was one of the family’s loyal advisors, was now a traitor, being fear to all, with his small, loyal sidekick with him, along with a green phial-filled with pure evil he received as a gift for selling his soul for more power. His eyes loomed around the room as Ruwee stood up to him, “Palpatine. You were not invited to the ball and you have no right to disturb it. Leave now or you will be forcefully removed” he sternly informed him as Palpatine only laughed, “How dare you order me to leave!?!” he laughed, “I shall see to it, that you will suffer for this lack of hospitality and insult!” he raged, “I curse you, your highness, you and your family are doomed!” he declared, hearing the room gasp, then with a puff of smoke he was gone.
Palpatine had turned over to the dark side, selling his soul for more power, evil power. So that he could rid the planet of the Naberrie’s once and for all, the small relic at his side was given to him by the Sith lords themselves, he was bounded to them forever. He used this new power to activate the curse and send the royal family into terror
Many didn’t want to believe Palpatine, because he was mad with power and had gone crazy, but once a curse was placed, it happens. And not too long, after the ball, the citizens of Theed rallied together, with any weapon they could find, and stormed their way to the royal palace, willing to rid their planet of their current ruler and his entire family.
As the citizens, lead by the soldiers of Theed, stormed the palace, the family attempts to make a daring escape, following close behind, Amidala stops, “My music box” she gasps, running back towards her room, as Winama stops, “No, Amidala!” she exclaims, running after her, she finally reaches her in her room, as she reclaims the music box, “Come now, my dear, let us escape” she cautioned her, turning back to the door, they find that the raging fires have spread and had now locked them in the room, “Grandma, we’re trapped” Amidala’s frightened voice spoke out as Winama held her close, while trying to find a way out, when a voice spoke, “Quick, your highness, this way!” they spoke and Amidala and Winama turn to see a young boy, no older than Padme, emerging from a compartment in the room, it was Anakin, one of the young servant boys in the palace, ushering them through the secret route, dropping her music box once more, she tried to turn back to it, but Anakin kept her going and he turned back to see four men burst through the door, they knocked him to the ground, rendering him unconscious right in front of the small music box Amidala had dropped.
Winama and Amidala run, forward towards the hanger, where they can escape to Courscant, tracking across a daring iced river, Palpatine sees them escaping and attempts to stop them, “Oh no, you don’t. I shall have my revenge” he informed them, he tries to grab Amidala, “I got you now” he told her, seeing her eyes widen with fear, he doesn’t not except the ice to break and he is forced to let go of her as he plunges down into the river.
Having arrived at the hanger, they run to catch up to the ship, who’s landing ramp is starting to close, Winama quickly rushes on board, turning back to Amidala, “Hold on to my hand!” she yelled out as Amidala began to cry once more, “Don’t let go!” she cried out, but the ship was already beginning to lift up off the ground and Amidala couldn’t hold on much more, and slips from Winama’s grip on her, “Amidala!” she screams, seeing her floor to the ground, hitting her head on the stoned surface, losing consciousness as Winama cries out for her granddaughter, “AMIDALA!” but it was no use, the ship was too high up in the sky and Amidala couldn’t hear her grandmother’s cries for her.
‘So many lives were destroyed that night, what had always been was now gone forever, and my Amidala, my beloved grandchild, I never saw her again’
Chapter 2
Ten years have past since that terrible night, which saw King Ruwee, his wife Jobal and children, Sabe, Rabe, Dorme and Palo were murdered, Amidala had not been seen or heard from, and Winama, now resides on Courscant. She is offering a large reward for anyone who can bring her granddaughter to her. This has set off rumours among the townspeople of Theed, that Princess Amidala could still be alive and comes to the attention of two young con men-Anakin Skywalker, the young servant boy in the palace is now all grown up, along with his best friend, Obi Wan, who is a former Jedi Knight. When they hear about Winama’s reward, they decide to scheme up the biggest con of their lives;
Scurrying through the crowd of people all whispering about the rumours, Obi Wan and Anakin arrive back at their small little room, Obi Wan wants to know how the plan is going once more, “So how’s this going to work?” he asked once more as Anakin smiled, “Everything’s going to plan, all we need is the girl. Just think, we’ll have free tickets out of here-one for you, one for me and one for Amidala” he explained before adding, “We’ll find a girl, teach her the part, dress her up and take her to Courscant” before smirking even more, “Imagine the reward her dear grandma will pay!” he exclaimed, “We’ll be rich” he laughed as Obi Wan joined in, now ready to begin the plan more than ever, “We’ll be rich!” he echoed Anakin’s response, “We’ll be out!” Anakin went on, as Obi Wan echoed his words, “We’ll be out!” jumping out of their apartment, safety to the ground, onto the next transport out of the city, “The biggest con in history!” he finished, heading towards the palace, unaware of one girl who is about to walk into his life.
The children had all gathered by the windows to see Padme off, dressed in simple clothes, her hair pulled back in one ponytail, with a few loose hairs in front of her face, she had not been listening to the head carer of the orphanage, instructing her on where to go, “I got you a job on the farms. You go straight down the path and to the left…..” trailing, she huffed, “Are you listening?” she asked in frustration as Padme waved back to the others, “Bye, bye everybody!” she called back, before she looked down at the carer, in a more softer voice, “I’m listening” she told her, with a tone that expressed her disinterest, as the carer had had enough, pulling her roughly by her warm, think scarf towards the gates, “You’ve been a thorn in my side ever since you’ve arrived here, acting like the Queen of Naboo, instead of the no one you are….” She went on as Padme called back once more, “Bye!” with a wave before rolling her eyes listening to the carer go on, “I’ve fed you, I’ve clothed you..” she added before Padme muttered, “I’ve out a roof over my head” having heard the speech before, angering her more, “How is it you don’t have a clue how you came here but you can remember all that?” she asked as Padme reached once more for her necklace, “I do have a clue” she replied, holding it out to her as the carer smirked, “No, ‘Together in Courscant’ You want to go to Courscant to find your family, huh?” she asked as Padme nodded before she laughed, “Ha! You have no family, now off you go” she informed her, pushing her out the gates, slamming them behind her, laughing, “Together in Courscant” she laughed once more while Padme began her journey away from the only home she had known.
The long, path was thick with snow as Padme made her way towards the town, muttering under her breath, “Be grateful, little Miss Padme, she says” looking back down the way she had came, “I am grateful. Grateful to get away!” she shouted, looking at her necklace once more, “Whoever gave me this necklace, must love me” she whispered, before shouting once more, “Send me a sign! A hint!” before sinking onto a small log nearby, where she soon became startled by the presence of a small, greyish coloured dog, who became fascinated with her scarf, Padme giggled, “Not now, I’m waiting for a sign” she told him, before he grabbed the scarf off her, “Hey, I don’t have time to play” she laughed, running after him, before he stopped at the pathway to Theed, “Oh great, a dog wants me to go to Theed” she muttered as the dog barked happily once more, and she smiled, “Okay, okay, I can take a hint”, picking up the scarf, she was reminded of her past and the journey.
Heart, don't fail me now! Courage, don't desert me! Don't turn back now that we're here People always say Life is full of choices No one ever mentions fear! Or how a road can seem so long How the world can seem so vast Courage see me through Heart I'm trusting you On this journey...to the past
Padme continued to make her way down the snowy road, to a small home, where she saw a small family, and instance remembered that she never knew if she had one, it pained her to know that this was true
Somewhere down this road I know someone's waiting Years of dreams just can't be wrong Arms will open wide I'll be safe and wanted Fin'lly home where I belong Well, starting here, my life begins Starting now, I'm learning fast Courage see me through Heart I'm trusting you
Skipping on down the road, she kept on going, with her little friend by her side, she would not stop till she was in Theed,
On this journey...to the past
Heart don't fail me now! Courage don't desert me!
Home, Love, Family There was once a time I must have had them too Home, Love, Family I will never be complete Until I find you...
She would not stop till she knew who she was and if she had anyone out there who loved her, and she knew Courscant would lead her to her answer, to find those who loved her, she saw the outline of the city before, and her smile lit her face, she was almost there, she hoped,
One step at a time, One hope, then another Who knows where this road may go Back to who I was On to find my future, Things my heart still needs to know Yes, let this be a sign! Let this road be mine! Let it lead me to my past Courage see me through Heart I'm trusting you To bring me home... At last! At last!
Having finally arrived at the city of Theed, Padme quickly made her way to the spaceport, where she hoped to purchase a ticket to Courscant, but soon found this was not going to be easy, “One ticket to Courscant, please” she asked the ticket agent who asked back, “Exit visa” which Padme had no idea was, asked, innocently, “Exit visa?” but the ticket agent had no time for her, rudely snapped back, “No exit visa, NO TICKET!” shutting the ticket window in front of her, disheartened, Padme was startled with the small, bony hand on her shoulder, she turned around to see a smaller older lady behind her, “See Anakin, he can help you” she told her as Padme asked back, “Where can I find him?” as she looked around, replying, “At the old palace, but you didn’t hear it from me” moving off as Padme muttered under her breath, “Anakin” maybe he would help her, she hoped.
Anakin and Obi Wan had now spent nearly all day trying to find a girl who looked exactly like Amidala, but it was not going too well, excusing the last girl, Anakin called on the last girl for the afternoon, who strolled on the stage, in beautiful coat, “Grandma, it’s me, Amidala” she spoke, with a deep husky voice as Obi Wan dropped his head in his hands in defeat while Anakin only signed, “Oh brother” before he sent her off, and decided to both head back to their rooms for the night. Once outside, Obi Wan let it out, “That’s it, Anakin, game over, our last girl pretending to be Amidala” he cried out, throwing the pictures over his shoulder as Anakin tried to re assure him, “Don’t worry, Obi Wan, she’s out there, right under our noses” walking on the road, just as Padme was walking towards them, however didn’t see each other, she asked another for directions, as he bumped into her, “I’m looking for how to get to the palace, excuse me” she shot back at him but Anakin didn’t respond, telling his friend, “One look at this jewellery box and she’ll know it’s real and be forever grateful and we’ll be off spending the reward money” continuing down the road to the palace.
Having found directions to the palace, Padme reached the old, vacant palace, boards on the windows and doors, she called out through one of the small cracks, “Hello?” distracted when her little friend crawled through into the main room, “Hey, come back here” she whispered, before she tried one of the wooden boards, hoping it would break off and after a few minutes, it did, causing a loud bang to echo throughout the palace, up to the living room, where Anakin and Obi Wan were staying in, “Did you hear something?” Anakin asked as Obi Wan shook his head, “No” turning back to the orange fire in front of him, Anakin didn’t relax, knowing he heard someone nearby.
Padme moved through what seem to be a large open ballroom, “Hello? Anyone home?” she called, her voice echoing throughout the room as she looked around for her friend, where she found a long table, lined with plates and cups covered with dust, picking up a silver plate, she gasped, when she saw moving pictures on the plate before it went still again, quickly placing it back down, she muttered, “This place, it’s like a memory from a dream” before she spied her little friend up the stairs, “There you are” running up to him, she stopped and stared at the great big painting of what seem to be a family, dressed in beautiful clothes, curious, she softly sung a sweet melody,
Dancing bears Painted wings Things I almost remember And a song, someone sings, Once upon a December
Someone holds me safe and warm Horses prance through a silver storm Figures dancing gracefully, Across my memory
Her smile turned to amazement, as the floor was filled with dancers in beautiful gowns, including the painting behind her, smiling at her, as she courtesy back, out onto the dance floor, dancing with the figures, she let the music fill her with emotion, like she belonged here,
Someone holds me safe and warm! Horses prance through a silver storm Figures dancing gracefully, Across my memory
Far away Long ago Glowing dim as amber Things my heart use to know Things it yearns to remember
She dances with two of the young men before an older man takes her hand, holding her like she was his own, then he let her go, and she stared in shock, kneeling down to respect him,
And a song someone sings…
Once upon a December
She was kneeling on the ground, still in shock, when she was shaken away from her dream by a sharp voice Her fantasy faded away when a sharp voice yelled down at her, “Hey! What are you doing in here?” Anakin asked, standing on the overhead balcony with Obi Wan, before Padme gasped, running across the room and back up the stairs, “Hey, hey, stop!” he called out to her, running after her, seeing her stop directly in front of the painting from before, “Hold on a minute, now how did you get in here?” he asked, his bright blue eyes stared in amazement at this young woman before him, who beared a striking resemblance to Amidala, as Obi Wan finally caught up to him, “Excuse me, child” he started as Anakin cut in, “Do you see what I see?” he asked him as Obi Wan shook his head, “No” he started before he looks to where Anakin is looking and gasps, “Yes! Yes!” he exclaims, as Padme spoke, “Are you Anakin?” as her small little dog growled up at him, making Anakin laugh, lifting him up, “Cute” he muttered, handing him to Obi Wan before replying back to Padme, “Perhaps that all depends on who’s looking for him” as Padme moved on to introduce herself, “My name’s Padme. I need travel papers” she told him, whispering closer, “They say you’re the man to see but I can’t say who” as Anakin started to look at her more closely, encircling her which causes her to be frustrated, “What? Hey why are you circling me?” she asked, in frustration, “What were you a vulture in another life?” she asked as Anakin smirked, “I’m sorry, Padma” he apologised, as Padme corrected him, “It’s Padme” as he echoed her reply, “Padme”, with her nodding, “Padme” as Anakin shook his head, “It’s just that you look an awful lot like…never mind” as Padme seemed interested, “What?” she asked, “It’s nothing, anyway you said something about travel papers” he reminded her as Padme nodded, “Yes, I’d like to go to Courscant” she informed him as Obi Wan laughed as the small dog continued to play with him, “Oh, isn’t he cute?” he asked as Anakin seemed surprised, a plan forming in his head, “You’d like to go to Courscant?” he asked, going on, “Now let me ask you something, what about your parents” he asked as Padme slowly took a deep breath, “Well, actually, this is going to sound crazy I don’t have any. I was found wandering when I was eight years old” she informed him as Anakin further asked, “And before that?” as she sighed, “I have few memories, one clue is Courscant” she added as Anakin smiled, “Well, we’re going to Courscant” he pointed out, beckoning for Obi Wan to hand him the tickets, “I have three tickets-this one is for her, Amidala” he explained, looking up at the painting, as Padme’s eyes followed his’s, “Her?” she asked as Obi Wan joined Anakin and Padme in front of the painting, “We are going to reunite Amidala with her grandmother” he added as Anakin went on, “You look like her. Ruwee’s eyes” he started, “Jobal’s chin, her grandmother’s hands” Obi Wan went on, “The physical attire” he finished as Padme laughed, “Are you trying to tell me that you think I am Amidala?” she asked as Anakin shrugged, “All I’m saying is that you do bear a resemblance” as Padme laughed once more, “Now, I think you’re both nuts, that I could be royalty?” she asked once more as Obi Wan spoke up, “Somewhere, little girls are all princesses, after all, the name Amidala means she will rise again” as Anakin started to move Obi Wan away, “Really wish we could help you, but the third ticket is for the grand princess Amidala. Good luck” he told her, moving back down the stairs as Obi Wan looked at him, confused, Why didn’t you tell her of our brilliant plan?” he asked as Anakin shrugged, “All she wants to do, is go to Courscant” as Obi Wan argued, “I’m telling you we’re walking away too soon!” he exclaimed, in a whisper as Anakin remained calm, “I’m telling you I’ve got it all under control…okay, walk a little slower…” he instructed him as Padme remained transfixed at the image of Amidala, as Anakin began to count, “3, 2, 1…” he started and just as he finished, she called out, “Anakin!” and again, “Anakin, wait!” seeing him stop, “You call me?” he asked seeing her moving towards him.
Padme moved slowly down the stairs, “If you say that I am like the grand princess Amidala, then I guess that I could pretend I am, right?” she asked as Anakin nodded, “Yes, you could” he replied as she went on, “I mean, if I’m not Amidala, the Empress will certainly know it” she pointed out as Obi Wan spoke up once more, “But if you are the Princess, then you’ll finally know who you are” as Padme smiled, “Yes, I guess you’re right” she smiled as Anakin smiled even more, “And that way, it gets you to Courscant” he reminded her as Padme nodded in agreement, “I am going to Courscant!” she announced as Anakin declared, “May I present…Her Royal Highness, the Grand Duchess, Amidala” as Padme smiled in delight, “Pooka, we are going to Courscant!” she told her small friend as Anakin was quick to point out, “Uh, the dog stays” as Padme argued back, “I’m talking about the dog goes” as he shot back, “No, the dog is not going” as she remained strong, “I say he’s going” as Anakin pointed out, “I’m allergic to dogs”.
Meanwhile, listening in on their conversation, Watto, Palpatine’s small sidekick, couldn’t believe what he was hearing, “Amidala? Yeah, just one problem there, fella. Amidala’s dead. All the Naberrie’s are dead. They’re dead. Dead, dead, dead. Am I right my friend?” he asked the small relic that Palpatine had left behind, not seeing the relic come alive, he went on, “I mean, how could that be Ami…Waaghh!” he shouted, jumping back in the small space he was hiding in, clinging to the relic, before he moved alive, “Yeeuughh!” flying back as he couldn’t believe what was happening, “Oh come on, Am I suppose to believe that think work up after all these years, just because some guy claims she’s a Naberrie?” he asked as the relic moved around him once more, as Watto became more freaked out, “Ok, ok, I get the message! Enough already with the glowing and the smoke people!” he exclaimed, backing away, he realised what it meant, “If that thing’s come back to life, that must mean…Amidala’s ALIVE!” he exclaimed, turning back to see Anakin and Padme still arguing, “Just leave the dog” Anakin told her, as Padme exclaimed, “I am not leaving the dog!” as Watto gasped once more, “And that’s her!” he exclaimed before the relic roared to life, flying off, dragging a scared Watto along for the ride, back to it’s master.
