I was scanning through some articles about Hayden, I didn't realize that he was nominated for a Razzie for worst supporting actor for both AOTC and ROTS....
I was shocked.... it never crossed my mind that he did a bad job, why did people say that? I mean everyone agreedthat Hayden did an excellent job in Life as a House, so how can he go from that and then start to suddenly suck?
Maybe it was the story or what George had Anakin "say or do"..... his acting in my opinion was good....
Any comments?

You mean, you didn't know ? It seems that within the profession, they're having a problem with Canadian Born actors and actresses lately, although there are quite a bunch of them working in Hollywood . Please keep in mind that Canada and France are in good terms , so this would explain that . When France says No to one thing, Canada follows, and vice-versa . My guess is Hayden paid the price that way . Not fair and mishonest, I agree . Thank Goodness, the Golden Globe Nomination and the MTV win Best Villain of last year proven the profession wrong . But how long will it take to them to start over again ? Kisses, Sam.

It IS because of George! He instructed him to say things a certain way. If you look at documentaries and little clips of the filming, George is right there coaching, telling him just how to say it. George had this idea that since Vader spoke in flat monotone that Anakin should too, but when he sounds that way as a human, it comes off as 'wooden', as he gets accused of so often by his enemies, and it's seen as bad acting. Actually it's GOOD acting, because Hayden is doing exactly what his director told him to do! It's not his fault.
And as for awards, the industry has always had it in for George. They didn't like it that he bucked the system and did it his own way. He also defied the SAG by putting the famous 'long time ago' crawls before the actors' names, which are supposed to be first on opening credits. His goal was to make enough money of SW to create Lucasfilms and do the rest his way which he did!
If you look back through the years, George, whose films are some of the most famous in the world and loved by millions, has won NO Oscars! The only awards the movies ever win are for stuff like special effects and editing, technical categories, never writing, acting, or directing. ROTS was only nominated for makeup, and it still lost! The work on deformed Palps and burned Anakin was better than anything else up there, but they wouldn't let SW win.

He does sound a little monotonous at times, but I must say that the pained emotion I long to see in his tragic fall seeps through at times- much to my delight. At least he looks the part and acts it too. His voicing isn't terrible and I believe anyone who says Hayden did a bad job in AOTC or ROTS needs a brain scan.
I'm very impressed by Hayden and continue to be. His ability to play such a variety of emotions in such differing ways yet somehow bring them all together into a believable character astounds me. And I think that this is a lot of Hayden, and not George's influence, because if you've seen Hayden in other works, you can tell there too.
I almost wish I hadn't known about the Razzies beforehand. I remember being a bit surprised and upset, but it quickly faded. I don't care what those people think of him- it's what I... you... WE, the fans think. He's not acting FOR the Razzie-givers. He's acting to entertain us, the average, normal population.
And because I know this, I have accepted this weird happening with the Razzies, and have put it behind me. I no longer fret about it.
Except for the teensy twinge of... (maybe pain?) I feel when I think that Tom Cruise got the same thing for his acting in War of the Worlds.
Yikes.

I agree with Lucas's directing being the one issue ..and coaching..Many dislike Lucas's dialogue..many non SW fans who did see the movies..felt the PT were a waste of time..not liking what Lucas's vision was..They didn't understand what the real vision was for these movies to judge the actor souly on the actors..
As for Hayden he paid a price for being handsome and young his chemistry with Natalie was off the charts..But to many they rather have seen a Name they were familar with such as Lenardo or Colin Hanks..Or even Ryan Phillipe..at the time Hayden was Unknown to the general public outside of Canada where he made many of his earlier films..they just felt he didn't work out well to be Anakin..
For me I think that was Garbage..and the other actors were either too old looking or to me just didn't work out with Natalie in the same respects as Hayden does..
